Where Settlers Boutique Motel is now, once stood what was left of an early settlers cottage.

The cottage would have once provided warmth, shelter and comfort to the Settlers as they toiled in the harsh environment to establish themselves. Their cottage is long gone, but the essence of the Settlers endures, welcoming all those that choose to step inside, providing that same character and warmth, albeit in a little more comfort!

It echoes back to the handcrafted heritage style of a time before, but balanced with the latest of modern comforts. You can be assured of a totally rejuvenating holiday, short break, or romantic weekend away in superb accommodation which has that special touch.

We were very pleased with our One Bedroom Spa Suite (ground floor). It was Unit 14 and in a great spot with no one above us (single story) and if there were people in the adjoining unit, we didn’t hear them! Each room was as pictured. Plenty of room for two and the furniture and bedding were both comfortable. The outdoor patio was an added bonus and we were lucky with the weather, so got to sit outside in a private setting. Sue and Brett were both very welcoming and always checked if we needed anything during our 4 night stay. Everything is within easy walking distance too. Would definitely stay here again

Great place with great hosts!

We loved our 2 night stay here, Sue and Brett were so welcoming! The room was warm on our arrival, and had everything we needed for our stay including fluffy towels to take to the hot pools. It was so peaceful and quiet, we will definitely return!

Exceptionally clean and comfortable with very welcoming owners.

I came here for a few day stay while exploring hanmer. The staff were amazing, I had asked if we could have our room ready earlier if possible and they said they would try their best and be in touch when it was ready on the day. Not only did they have it ready for us, they had also turned our heatpump on for us ready for when we got there! Was much appreciated on a cold day like it was. They provided seperate towels that we were allowed to borrow to take to the hotpools (free of charge) and also they had a mini library of dvds in the reception that we were allowed to choose from and take back to our room for our stay (also free of charge). The room was wonderful, really good value for money, and the bedroom TV had netflix/neon/youtube/tvnz etc which was perfect for late nights. I cannot stress enough how great of a stay it was, everyone was so lovely and accommodating and it was a great place to be. This will be my go-to from now on! Highly recommend.

Best Accom in Hanmer

Brett and Sue were generous and helpful hosts. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We appreciated the suggestion of a picturesque route to a bush walk, map of the disc golf course we discovered on the way and the complimentary towels for the hot pools. We had brought our own this time after our previous visit over 10 years ago. It was great not to have to carry wet towels all the way home. The room was lovely, compact and with everything we could reasonably require for a 3 night stay where we would be doing some self catering. Will probably look to stay again if we are back in the neighbourhood anytime soon.

Perfect motel for a get away

We had two nights at the Settlers Boutique Motel and we were warmly welcomed by Brett. We arrived in cold, wet conditions and the room was warm and cosy on arrival. It was very well appointed. Not huge but perfect for us. We felt very cosy in our first floor room with views of the snow capped mountains. We had a fully equipped kitchenette and a lovely little balcony. The bathroom was clean and modern with a shower over a large spa tub. The decor was very tasteful and made us feel like we in a mountain cabin. All that was missing was a log fire! LOL.
The bed was very comfortable and we had a dining table and chairs for two that were great for a lazy breakfast in the room. We had everything we needed for self catering including a fullsize plunger coffee pot with ground coffee provided. There was also a toaster, microwave and two burner cook top. Not that we cooked in the room but if you didn’t feel like going out you could heat something easy to have in your room.
The Motel is within walking distance to town and the thermal pools. We had ample parking in front of the room. There were plenty of choices for eating out within walking distance. We loved the bakery for lunch and the Indian restuarant was very good for dinner. Mamma Mia did great coffee for breakfast.
All in all, The Settlers Boutique Motel was a great find and we would highly recommend it.

A warm welcome and a very comfortable room

Our stay at Settlers Boutique Motel has been a highlight of our holiday in NZ. Brett and Sue run the Motel to the highest standard. The rooms were exceptionally clean, with plenty of room to move. Brett showed us where the towels were located to take to the Thermal pools and return to be washed as part of our stay at the Motel, at no charge. Just an added bonus for our stay. We would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends and family as a must stay at The Settlers Boutique Motel. Thank you again Brett and Sue for being exceptional hosts.

Brett and Sue truly run a fantastic boutique motel! The rooms are just perfect and have everything you could need. Location – fantastic with only a 5 minute walk into town. But the service was really the standout! Brett was right there to welcome me with a smile on arrival, and was always keen for a chat. He made me feel like nothing was too much trouble, it was so appreciated. This will now be my go-to spot every time I come to Hanmer Springs!! Thank you Brett and Sue 🙂

I just wanted to offer my sincere thanks to Brett and Sue who made my first ever stay in Hanmer so utterly delightful. The service is considered, thoughtful, dedicated and unobtrusive. The bed was the best sleep I’ve had in years, the shower so hot and strong you could be blown out of the box when on full force. Snuggling down to TV in bed each evening with a tea was nigh on perfect. The parking was so convenient and the stroll into town level, picturesque, short and enjoyable. A totally winning combination. Thanks guys. Cannot wait to get back!
